Flights cancelled as ash cloud returns

The Chilean volcanic ash cloud is again wreaking havoc on air travel around the country, forcing the cancellation of flights in Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney.

Thousands of air passengers will be left stranded as all flights to and from Adelaide are cancelled, with the city’s airport closed for the day.

Qantas has announced Canberra and Sydney flights will be stopped from midday (AEST) and 3:00pm respectively, as the ash from the eruption of Chile’s Mt Puyehue Cordon Caulle volcano continues to push east.
